Points Of Blue

Blue is one of my favorite colors. This busy little 44” square quilt was cut with the Accuquilt half rectangle triangle die. Blue prints were combined in pairs with black, white and cream.

I added a 2” border of solid black to frame my work, and used blue paisley print backing. Quilting was sewn in a serpentine stitch 3” apart horizontally and vertically with gray and white variegated thread.

Points Of Blue

I had originally thought to keep all the blocks pointed in the same direction. While those neat rows looked nice, rotating the squares created a jumbled effect that I like better. You just never know how a design will play out.

Don't be fooled today!

Patience

pa•tience
  • the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain without complaint, loss of temper, or anger

  • an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay

  • quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence
I am willing to be patient. Really I am. Somehow it doesn't always turn out that way. I have the ability to tolerate petty annoyances, pain, delays and bumps in the road. I've always been able to calmly take what comes and move forward. I've got perseverance and diligence covered.  It's just that occasionally I get hung up on the without complaint and loss of temper part. That must be genetic...my red-headed German-Irish roots are showing.

Patience is a wonderful quality to have, but it isn't always easy. I guess that's why it must be practiced.

My patience comes in limited allowance, and you used it all.” Anonymous

Fools

Lately it seems like there are a lot of fools out there. Have you noticed?

Fool:   1. One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding.
             2. One who acts unwisely on a given occasion.

Synonyms: doofus, putz, nincompoop, dunderhead, lamebrain, dummy, moron, jackass

They're everywhere: in government, schools, stores, and in the media. They're on the roads, at workplaces, in your social circles, even in your family. You deal with them online, in person and on the phone.

I wonder how one becomes a fool. Is it in our genes, like having freckles or curly hair? Good grief, let's hope not. Or is the tendency to act like a fool a learned behavior? It could be that people develop this trait as a result of apathy, lack of self-discipline, laziness, or self-centeredness.

It's difficult to interact with fools. They lack common sense and often get worked up about trivial things while ignoring important problems. They cause stress, make drama and seem to enjoy the results. Most have little regard for possessions although they always want more. They avoid responsibility, expect special treatment, and blame their problems on others.

I guess there have always been fools; the Bible mentions them frequently. Maybe answers for how to deal with them can be found there.

Leave the presence of a man who is a fool,
for you will not discern words of knowledge there --Proverbs 14:7; MLB

Speak not in the ears of a fool:
for he will despise the wisdom of thy words --Proverbs 23:9; KJV

Don't answer the foolish arguments of fools,
or you will become as foolish as they are --Proverbs 26:4; NLT

Useful Notion:  Life's too short to suffer fools.  Sometimes you can walk away from them, sometimes you can't. However, you can set boundaries to protect yourself and limit your time around them. You can't fix them, change them, or make their lives better. They have to do that themselves.

“You will rarely make wise decisions if you surround yourself with fools”
